My Name is Ian McGregor, I’m from a small town in South Australia called Mount Gambier.
Personal: Married to Fiona with a daughter (Keeley) who keeps us quite busy
Career: An Engineer (mechatronics) working in the timber industry,
I started as an apprentice electrician and continued to study after I finished my apprenticeship, I started moving into supervisory/managerial roles while still improving my knowledge in the electrical field, until one day I had run out of useful courses to do in the trade/technician area, so I decided to enrol at Deakin University and study to be an Engineer (part time – while still working) just for something to do
rather than just do an electrical degree, (the area I had been working in for the last 10 years or so) I chose to take on the mixed degree of Mechatronics, which is a mixture of mechanical and electrical disciplines, aimed at the integration of mechanical and electrical systems.
My Interests and most likely what I’ll be blogging about are:
- Brewing beer
- Personal Development
- Health and fitness
- Kyokushin Karate
- Building electronic Gadgets (mainly for brewing)
- Dabbling with Linux (when I get time)
- Trade and Engineering skills in Australia
